This illustrated monograph includes a foreword by Sarah Robayo Sheridan and an essay by Sherman Sam. The volume is published on the occasion of David Beattie's first solo exhibition in North America. David's sculptural works combine the use of sound, movement and physics to create unlikely alliances.

untitled (playlist for Bas Jan Ader) is a signed and numbered limited edition print. It is the first in a series of posters that delineate the practice of some of Woodcock's favourite artists through song titles. Like the compilation tape or CD of previous technical era's, the playlist is a considered dedication. The foil stamped blue font of the print echoes the cover of Ader's survey catalogue Please Don't Leave Me published by Museum Biojmans Van Beuningen (2006).

For her exhibition Art Now (April 20 to May 26, 2007) Thérèse Mastroiacovo installed three large silver helium balloons that spell out the word NOW. As the thirty seven days of the exhibition count down, the word slowly deflates. Everyday a Polaroid of the balloons is taken, documenting the duration of NOW. These Polaroids are framed and sold for $40.00 each. Please contact the gallery for availability of dates.

In response to a peceived ned for critical writing in the Toronto art community, Mercer Union is launching The Writing Arsenal on our Web Site. This feature is intended to stimulate writing about contemporary art and related cultural and political issues. The Writing Aresenal presents six original articles by three Toronto writers: Steve Reinke, Min Sook Lee and Heidi McKenzie. In keeping with its role as A Centre for Contemporary Art, Mercer Union intends this project to also act as a forum for critical debate by encouraging response and discussion from readers of the presented text.

In her book The Heliotropic, Jennifer McMackon documents research on heliotropism in plants and proposes developing a means to incorporate the heliotropic process into human bodies, perhaps with implants affecting the lymphatic system. By making glands/bodies receptive and communicative in this non-traditional way, humans could function outside of linguistics. McMackon writes, "the heliotropic 'bend' hints at the presence of a sometimes dormant reflex." The 'bend' of the human body would be an involuntary response mechanism with practical applications like "a home pregnancy test, a lie detector, a recipe for perfume, post-Fluxus poetry" etc. 29 p., colour.
